Establishment
The Seabed Minerals Authority was established by the Cook Islands Government Cabinet on the 26 June 2012. It was officially opened by the Honourable Tom Marsters, Minister of Minerals and Natural Resources.

Vision and Strategic Objectives
The overarching vision of the Seabed Minerals Authority is to develop and mature the Seabed Minerals (SBM) sector of the Cook Islands in order to maximise the benefit of our national seabed minerals resources for the Cook Islands people and our investment and development partners, while also taking into account social and environmental considerations.

Advisory Board
The Advisory Board operates as the "official avenue for consultation between the Government and the community" on matters concerning the regulation and management of the seabed minerals in the Cook Islands.
